What MCP is

MCP is an open standard for putting a service in reach of an AI client. The client asks the service what it can do, then calls it while it answers you.

Your documents sit behind an MCP server of ours. A client you connect to it can search them and read from them, and it sees your library only.

Connecting a client

Your client needs one address, and it is on MCP Connector, with the steps for each client we have written up.

The address works as soon as you connect. Searches come back empty until you upload a document.

Approving the client

Somewhere in that setup a browser window opens here and asks you to approve the client. That is us checking the connection is yours.

Approve it in the browser holding your documents. A client opens whichever browser your computer opens by default, which may not be the one you uploaded from, and approving there connects it to an empty library. The screen says so before you approve, so read it if you have more than one browser.

Without an account

A connection made before you sign up works for 48 hours. Signing up keeps the same library and ends the countdown — see Account.
